Non-Discrimination Policy
Miami International University does not discriminate on the basis of race,
color, sex, sexual orientation, religion, national or ethnic origin, age
or disability in the administration of its educational policies and procedures,
employment or other university administered programs.
Student Conduct Policy
- Catalog information:
Student responsibility for catalog information: students are individually
responsible for information contained in this bulletin: information
contained herein in subject to change from year to year as university
rules, policies and curricula change.
- General Policy:
Students must conduct themselves at all times in a mature and responsible
manner. Failure to adhere to this policy and the laws and regulations
of the university can result in the appropriate disciplinary action.
- Academic Integrity:
Intellectual honesty is the fundamental value of academic communities,
therefore faculty and students alike are responsible for adhering to
the highest standards of truth and honesty.
StudentsRecords
and Confidentiality
- Students' records and
Confidentiality:
This policy complies with the requirements of the Family Educational
Rights and Privacy Act of 1974, as amended.
- Informing Students of
their rights:
The university annually informs individuals in attendance of their rights
under the Act and University policy and of their right to file a complaint
concerning any alleged failures by the university to comply with the
requirements of the Act and of implementing regulations.
- Records and information:
records subject to inspection and review are in general those directly
related to a student and maintained by the university, including specifically
files of the admission office. Records and information NOT subject to
inspection and review include, but are not limited to:
- Records of instructional,
supervisory and administrative personnel and educational personnel
ancillary there to that are in the sole possession of the maker
- Medical records that
shall only be reviewed by a physician or other appropriate professional
of student's choice
- Financial records and
statements of parent(s) of any student, except upon written permission
of such parent(s)
- Confidential letters
and statements of recommendation placed in the student's records
pursuant to a written statement of confidentiality and waiver by
the student of the right to see such recommendation
- The portion of a student's
record that pertain to another student(s)
- Waivers:
A student may waive any of his or her rights under the act and under
this policy, including the right to inspect or review records. Such
waiver must be in writing and signed by the student.
Financial Information
- Failure to pay:
the university reserves the right to withhold registration material,
transcripts and all other information regarding the record of any student
who is in arrears in the payment of tuition fees.
- Refunds of tuition:
if a student who has been accepted for admission and enrolls in the
university wished to withdraw (or is requested to withdraw for failure
to maintain a satisfactory academic performance), or is granted a leave
of absence will be eligible for a refund of 100 % of fee paid prior
to commencement, 75 % within the 4 weeks of class, 50 % with permission
for reasonable cause prior to commencement of the second half of the
academic year and 0% thereafter.
